Voted Best Bar in
Grand Island 10 Straight Years!
Balz
Sports Bar is a sports bar unlike any other in Central Nebraska.
Square foot for square foot Balz is as good if not better than any
sports bar anywhere! Hundreds of autographed baseballs, bats, basketballs and boxing gloves
line the walls of the bar. Balz sits right north of the Conestoga
Mall.
The atmosphere is
reflects the outdoor sports feel with an outfield on the south
wall and the ceiling is painted sky blue with clouds. There are 41
- 27 inch TV's and
8 - 42"Plasma TV's, 1 - 52" and
two
6 x 8 foot projection TV's that have their own satellite dishes.
Balz
is one of the very few that can give you 11 games at one time! If
there's a game on, we have it!
In addition, it is the #1 keno outlet with keno
tickets that
resemble game tickets with game room in the back and a group of
tables along the south wall with display cases housing memorabilia.
Guests may put their drinks and food a-top the glass cover and view the
items inside.
The
baseball case includes balls signed by Ted Williams, former President,
George
Bush Sr.(valued at $1000), Nolan Ryan, Pete Rose, Reggie
Jackson, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemons along with bats from Cal Ripkin,
George Brett, Tony Pena and Ozzie Smith and Barry Bonds. There will be a lot more
added to this collection by the end of August so come in and check out
what's new!
The bar also has a Nolan Ryan autographed baseball jersey and signed pictures from
all kinds of athletes, including golfing greats Jack Nicklaus, Arnold
Palmer and Phil Mickelson.
Jeff Richardson, also knows as Whitey, is a former major leaguer
which made it easy to collect all of his memorabilia. He played
for the Cincinnati Reds in 1989 under Manager, Pete Rose, the Pittsburg
Pirates in 1991 and the Boston Red Sox in 1993. Take a
look at Whitey during his career by viewing his baseball cards
below.
Balz sports bar is not just a bar, it's an experience. The "old
man" can tell his son about all the great athletes and tell a few
stories about the glory days of the game.
